Last day in Jerusalem (for a while)

We leave tomorrow morning for our trip up north (and down south, and well, every direction actually...), so we spent one more day enjoying Jerusalem. After our late night out last night, we had a slow morning, took naps, did a little work, did laundry and packed, and made plans for our trip. After lunch we headed out for a long leisurely walk around the neighborhood. We stopped for drinks, snacks, and a long time at the playground at the YMCA. The waiter at the YMCA brought us all glasses of tamarind juice on the house - which Sylvia loved!

While we were there, we saw a group of 4 women take a really cute photo while doing the YMCA gestures in front of the building. I commented to them how cute it was, and we got talking. Turned out they were 4 friends traveling together from Toledo. One of them works in the HR department at BGSU (Becca Ferguson), one lives in Perrysburg, and one is married to an architect Abe knows. Talk about a small world! While we talked, Jonah conquered climbing the pole in the YMCA playground (not easy!) and Sylvia conquered the ladder and slide (a smaller accomplishment, but she was still pretty happy with it). We then walked some more up around Ben Yehuda Street (in search of a popsicle store open on Shabbat, which we found). A bit more wandering around until almost sunset gave us the chance to see the gorgeous light that gave rise to the song Jerusalem of Gold.

  1. Safe travels to you all. We look forward to reading about all of your new adventures outside of Jerusalem before you get to Tel Aviv. We are having a lovely visit in New York, but it is very hot. Kind of reminds us of Israel in July!
